The Lion City from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.
This video just blew my mind and I bet it blew yours too. It is probably the coolest video of Singapore I’ve seen to date, and what an unique and utterly cool perspective to view Singapore from. Initially I was even wondering if these were real shots that looked like miniatures or miniatures that look real. “Is this part of the Lego Movie? Is this a SimCity game?” I felt like an absolute giant watching this ‘tiny toy world’. I can’t even fathom the amount of time, post-processing, sweat and tears that must’ve went into this 3 min video.
Filmmaker Keith Loutit told planet5d “For ‘The Lion City’, the idea behind the use of the technique is for focus and distance to be something the viewer can experience. It also doubles to communicate the constant heat and humidity that hits you whenever you leave the comfort of air conditioning in Singapore.” Aye, I can definitely relate to the heat and humidity part.
If you like this film piece do follow Loutit on Facebook and check out his website. He has a part 2 to this, filmed in a different narrative called The Lion City II – Majulah, be sure to check it out too!
